On June 5th, 2019 at approximately 4:28 a.m., the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District and the Sweet Home Police Department responded to a reported house fire at 1271 Mountain Fir Court, Sweet Home, Linn County, Oregon. When fire personnel arrived, they located a structure heavily involved with fire on south side of a tri-plex at that location.
Fire fighters entered the structure and located a deceased female on the initial search. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained in the living room of unit 1271 Mountain Fir Court.
The deceased was identified as the resident of that location, Carolyn O. Pye, 71 YOA.
The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District as well as the City of Sweet Home wishes to express our sincere condolences to the family during this incredibly difficult time and asks everyone in the community to support the grieving family and friends of Mrs. Pye.
Members of the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Oregon State Police Arson Investigation Unit responded to assist with the fire investigation.
The fire is not suspicious or criminal in nature and appears to be accidental.
