Meet the Chief

NICK TYLER, FIRE CHIEF

Chief Tyler graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1997. He joined the US Navy as a Gunner’s Mate and was Honorably Discharged in 2001. Nick and wife Rachel, who is an operating room nurse, have been married since 1999. They have two children, Aiden and Chloe. Aiden is a quarterback playing football for Western Oregon University and Chloe swims sprint freestyle and backstroke for Illinois State University.

Chief Tyler started his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter for Sweet Home Fire in 2002. He also served Sweet Home Fire as an intern and then started as a career Firefighter/Paramedic in 2004. In 2007, he left the Sweet Home Fire District and went to work for the Lebanon Fire District. He moved up the ranks in Lebanon. He was a Firefighter, Lieutenant and Battalion Chief for LFD. Chief Tyler served on the Linn County Regional SWAT team for almost eight years as a SWAT Medic. He is currently on an Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office Incident Management Team as a Division Supervisor.

Chief Tyler’s education after graduation from high school includes an Associate Degree from Linn-Benton Community College in general studies. He has two more Associate Degrees from Chemeketa Community College in Paramedic and Fire Suppression. He also has obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Service Administration from Eastern Oregon University. In the future he has plans to attend the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer program.
