Position: Lieutenant/ Paramedic
Salary/benefits: $92,208-$99,792 annually. Lateral hires may negotiate starting pay depending on qualifications.
Benefits: 6% employee PERS paid by District, District matches up to 5% of deferred compensation (457), District pays 90% of medical/ vision/ dental premium with additional contributions to VEBA
Status: Full Time, IAFF

Test date: Monday, March 10th, 2025 beginning at 0900 hours
Position Summary:
The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District is testing for Lieutenant. The position is a full-time shift position working 24 hours on 72 hours off followed by 48 hours on and 72 hours off (known as a 1/3, 2/3 schedule). This position supervises duty personnel and responds to emergencies in many capacities. The Lieutenant on duty functions as the Company Officer for a variety of different emergencies including structure fires and technical rescues. Lieutenants also function in the role of firefighter, apparatus operator, Incident Commander, and Paramedic on a transporting ambulance.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Must pass a physical exam, mandatory drug screen test, a criminal background history check, and the district’s physical agility test
Must have a minimum of three years of experience in the fire service.
Must possess the following current certifications:
Current state of Oregon Paramedic licensure, by date of hire
NFPA Firefighter 2
NFPA Apparatus equipped with Fire Pump (AO)
NFPA Operations Level Responder (HazMat)
NFPA Fire Instructor 1
Fire Ground Leader or equivalent training
Preferred Qualifications:
NWCG single resource boss or above
Fire Officer 1 or above
NFPA Rope Rescue
NFPA Surface Water Rescue
NFPA Swiftwater Rescue
NFPA Apparatus Equipped with an Aerial Device
Fire Investigation training
